Arm Support Pillow – orthopaedic sleeping pillow

A contoured pillow for people who change position during the night — whether they sleep on their back, side or stomach, or rest their arms close to their head. The two-sided support, featuring two different heights of the profile, allows you to choose which side of the pillow to use based on your personal preferences, body type and the position of your head and neck. Its properly contoured shape supports the natural alignment of the cervical spine and helps to relieve pressure on it while you sleep.

The zoned design makes it easier to find a comfortable sleeping position, while the central recess helps keep your head in a more stable position. The small cut-outs at the sides provide more room for the arms and shoulders, particularly when the user rests his or her arms close to the head or changes position frequently during the night. The ventilation hole in the centre of the pillow helps to improve air circulation.

The Arm Support Pillow is made from high-quality memory foam. The foam reacts to pressure and body temperature, gradually moulding itself to the natural contours of the head, neck and shoulders. Thanks to its contoured shape, the pillow helps to distribute pressure more evenly and reduce localised strain on the head and cervical spine.

The outer cover combines two fabrics with different properties. The top part, made from cooling fabric, promotes a comfortable night’s sleep, while the viscose-blend mesh fabric used on the other top part, the sides and the underside improves breathability and feels pleasant against the skin. Viscose is soft, lightweight and works well in textiles used close to the skin.

The pillow is suitable for people with allergies — the memory foam does not provide a favourable environment for dust mites to thrive, and the removable cover with a zip makes it easy to keep the pillow hygienic.

Intended use

This product is designed to support the head, neck and shoulder area while sleeping or resting in a lying position, in order to help maintain a more neutral alignment of the cervical spine and to alleviate discomfort associated with strain on the neck, back of the neck and shoulder girdle.

Therapeutic indications

This product is intended for use as an aid for people who:

- suffer from pain in the neck and cervical spine caused by overexertion;

- suffer from muscle tension in the neck, shoulders and shoulder girdle;

- require preventive support for the cervical spine while sleeping;

- experience discomfort while sleeping due to an incorrect position of the head, neck or shoulders;

- need a more comfortable position for their arms close to their head while sleeping.

Target patient group

Adults and young people who require support for the cervical spine while sleeping or resting in a lying position.

In the case of children, dependent people, people with sensory impairments, reduced mobility or difficulty changing their body position independently, the product should only be used under the supervision of a caregiver or after consulting medical staff.

Intended users

This product is intended for use by the general public.

Contraindications

Do not use this product for patients who:

• require permanent or temporary immobilisation of the cervical spine;
• have recently suffered from injuries to the cervical spine, unless otherwise advised by the doctor;
• have medical conditions requiring the use of a neck brace or other specialist immobilisation devices;
• experience exacerbated pain, numbness or other worrying symptoms due to the use of the contoured pillow.

Special warnings and precautions for use

• If symptoms persist or worsen, stop using the product and consult a doctor or physiotherapist.
• Do not use the product if it is damaged, misshapen, torn or has lost its supportive properties.
• Do not attempt to repair, alter or modify the product yourself.
• Do not use the product for any purpose other than its intended use.
• Do not use this product in a way that restricts breathing.
• Keep the product clean. Failure to observe hygiene rules can lead to skin irritation, increased sweating and the growth of unwanted bacteria.
• If you experience pain, numbness, dizziness, shortness of breath or any other worrying symptoms after starting to use this product, stop using it and consult a doctor.
• This product is intended for personal use.

How to use the product

1. Remove the product from its packaging.
2. Before using the pillow for the first time, air it out to reduce any factory odours resulting from the manufacturing and transport processes.
3. Place the pillow on a flat surface on the bed.
4. Place your head in the central recess of the pillow and rest your neck against the support contour.
5. Choose a pillow that is positioned so that its height and shape provide comfortable support for your neck.
6. If you sleep on your side, position your shoulder below the edge of the pillow so that your neck is firmly supported.
7. If the product causes discomfort or worsens your symptoms, stop using it.

Cleaning and maintenance

• Do not wash, soak or dry clean the memory foam core.
• The outer cover is removable and can be washed at temperatures up to 30 °C.
• Do not use bleach or harsh cleaning products.
• Do not tumble dry it if this could damage the cover material.
• Before putting the cover back on, make sure it is completely dry.

Storage and transport

• Store in a dry, clean and well-ventilated place.
• Protect from direct sunlight, excessive humidity and sources of heat.
• Do not store the product in a state where it has been crushed or deformed for a prolonged period.
• Transport it in such a way as to protect against dirt, moisture
  and mechanical damage.

Disposal

The used product must be disposed of in accordance with local environmental and waste management regulations.

Reporting incidents

Any serious incident involving the product must be reported to the manufacturer and to the competent authority of the Member State in which the user or patient resides.

The product must be used in accordance with these Instructions for use. The manufacturer is liable for the safety and performance of the product only if it is used in accordance with its intended use and is properly stored and maintained.
