Neck Support Pillow – orthopaedic sleeping pillow

The Neck Support Pillow is an orthopaedic sleeping pillow designed with ergonomics and the biomechanics of the body’s sleeping position in mind, particularly in positions where the head, neck, shoulder girdle and upper limbs require stable support. Its shape helps you adopt a more comfortable resting position, especially when you sleep on your side or rest your arms close to your head.

The central recess and contoured edges provide varied support for the head and neck. Properly selected height and shape of the pillow can help maintain a more neutral position of the cervical spine and ensure a more even distribution of pressure.

The contoured side sections of the pillow, designed to accommodate the arm, have been developed with
people in mind who rest their arms close to their head while sleeping — whether on their side, on their stomach, or on their back with their arms raised above their head. They help you position your arm more comfortably near the pillow, without having to slip your hand under your head or under the pillow. This may help to promote a more natural position of the shoulder and shoulder girdle while sleeping.

The pillow also takes into account how the face comes into contact with the support surface. A surface that is properly contoured can help reduce localised pressure around the cheeks and jaw, thereby reducing the risk of morning creases in the skin.

Memory foam

The Neck Support Pillow is made from high-quality memory foam, which reacts to body temperature and pressure, gradually moulding itself to the body’s natural contours. The foam is characterised by a slow return to its original shape, providing stable yet soft support for the head and neck and helping to distribute pressure more evenly.

The contoured shape of the pillow promotes a more neutral alignment of the cervical spine during sleep, while the flexible foam structure helps to reduce the sensation of pressure points. The material retains its shape once the pressure is released, which enhances comfort in everyday use.

Cover

The pillow has a removable cover, which makes it easy to keep it clean. The fabrics used enhance comfort: the cooling fabric on the upper part feels pleasant against the skin, while the mesh fabric improves the cover’s breathability.

Intended use

This product is designed to support the head and cervical spine while sleeping or resting in a lying position, in order to help maintain a neutral alignment of the cervical spine and alleviate discomfort associated with neck strain.

Therapeutic indications

This product is intended for use as an aid for people who:

• suffer from pain in the neck and cervical spine caused by overexertion;
• suffer from muscle tension in the neck and shoulder girdle;
• require preventive support for the cervical spine while sleeping;
• experience discomfort while sleeping due to an incorrect position of the head and neck.

Target patient group

Adults and young people who require support for the cervical spine while sleeping or resting in a lying position.

In the case of children, dependent people, people with sensory impairments, reduced mobility or difficulty changing their body position independently, the product should only be used under the supervision of a caregiver or after consulting medical staff.

Intended users

This product is intended for use by the general public.

Contraindications

Do not use this product for patients who:

• require permanent or temporary immobilisation of the cervical spine;
• have recently suffered from injuries to the cervical spine, unless otherwise advised by the doctor;
• have medical conditions requiring the use of a neck brace or other specialist immobilisation devices;
• experience exacerbated pain, numbness or other worrying symptoms due to the use of the contoured pillow.

Special warnings and precautions for use

• If symptoms persist or worsen, stop using the product and consult a doctor or physiotherapist.
• Do not use the product if it is damaged, misshapen, torn or has lost its supportive properties.
• Do not attempt to repair, alter or modify the product yourself.
• Do not use the product for any purpose other than its intended use.
• Do not use this product in a way that restricts breathing.
• Keep the product clean. Failure to observe hygiene rules can lead to skin irritation, increased sweating and the growth of unwanted bacteria.
• If you experience pain, numbness, dizziness, shortness of breath or any other worrying symptoms after starting to use this product, stop using it and consult a doctor.
• This product is intended for personal use.

How to use the product

1. Remove the product from its packaging.
2. Before using the pillow for the first time, air it out to reduce any factory odours resulting from the manufacturing and transport processes.
3. Place the pillow on a flat surface on the bed.
4. Place your head in the central recess of the pillow and rest your neck against the support contour.
5. Choose a pillow that is positioned so that its height and shape provide comfortable support for your neck.
6. If you sleep on your side, position your shoulder below the edge of the pillow so that your neck is firmly supported.
7. If the product causes discomfort or worsens your symptoms, stop using it.

Cleaning and maintenance

• Do not wash, soak or dry clean the memory foam core.
• The outer cover is removable and can be washed at temperatures up to 30 °C.
• Do not use bleach or harsh cleaning products.
• Do not tumble dry it if this could damage the cover material.
• Before putting the cover back on, make sure it is completely dry.

Storage and transport

• Store in a dry, clean and well-ventilated place.
• Protect from direct sunlight, excessive humidity and sources of heat.
• Do not store the product in a state where it has been crushed or deformed for a prolonged period.
• Transport it in such a way as to protect against dirt, moisture
  and mechanical damage.

Disposal

The used product must be disposed of in accordance with local environmental and waste management regulations.

Reporting incidents

Any serious incident involving the product must be reported to the manufacturer and to the competent authority of the Member State in which the user or patient resides.

Important notice

The product must be used in accordance with these Instructions for use. The manufacturer is liable for the safety and performance of the product only if it is used in accordance with its intended use and is properly stored and maintained.
